You’ll be seeing the CNN vet a lot during this presidential election season. But first, some breaking news…
This Just In Growing up in Buffalo, I would read the morning papers over breakfast and the evening papers after school. I was 8.
Commentary We had dinner together—my mom, dad, sister, and I—every night around the kitchen table, and we’d actually talk. We talked about our lives. We talked about the news. Everybody had a voice. Everybody had a point of view. Everybody was heard.
News GatheringI was in Tel Aviv in 1972 as a foreign correspondent for Reuters. I had no real journalism experience. Hadn’t studied journalism, hadn’t written for the school paper. Day one, I was terrible at the job, and the veteran British journalists who surrounded me would tell me so. They said I had no future. They told me to go home. And then they’d show me how it was done. They gave me a shot. And I was smart enough to learn quickly.
Good Night and Good Luck I know when I go to sleep at night I’ll be a little bit smarter for all the things I learned that day. With this job, I gain an education on a daily basis. That’s a blessing.
