John Legend, if you could sing a duet with any artist, living or dead, who would it be and what song?

Nina Simone. “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood.”

If you could give your 10-year-old self one piece of advice, what would it be?

Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Don’t be afraid to go for what you want. Be bold.

If you had a time machine, where would you go and why?

The late ’60s and early ’70s would be interesting. So much social and political change. So much incredible music.

If you had a superpower, what would it be?

I’d love to fly. I dream that I can fly, all the time.

If you ruled the world, what’s the first thing you would change?

I would end poverty and make sure every kid had a great education.

If you were born 100 years ago, what would you be doing?

Well, I live in New York City right now. If I were there 100 years ago, we’d be on the cusp of the Harlem Renaissance. A lot of great art and literature came out of that period. I would love to have been able to witness this.

If you could be remembered for one thing, what would it be?

I want to be remembered for bringing a little more beauty and light to the world. For making great art and making people’s lives better.

If this were the last day of your life, what would you be doing?

I would want to be with my wife and all my friends and family. A big dinner with lots of soul food and wine would be great.
